Root pieces of Miscanthus x giganteus, also called elephant grass or ramie, are thick-fleshy and about the size of a normal finger. Reasonably planted close to each other they provide a dense sight protection hedge after just a few years, and are cheaper than any comparable hedge plant!

The highest growing Miscanthus species (Miscanthus x giganteus) originally comes from Asia and reaches, if sun and water are available a final height of 2 to about 3.5 meters in root planting .
Under Used as “energy grass” or energy plant in agriculture for alternative biomass and wood chip production , it is also called elephant grass , ramie or Chinese reed.
